I know you are thinking about popping a can of biscuits open and hoping you bought a package of gravy mix the last time you went shopping. You can do that, but I promise this recipe is super easy and worth your time to try. Your family will not only be shocked by the flavor but so glad you made this recipe. Biscuits with White Pepper Gravy
Servings: 6-8
Biscuits:
- 1 package yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 2 cups self-rising flour, plus additional for rolling out biscuits, divided
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup warm milk
White Pepper Gravy:
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 cups milk
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- To make biscuits: Heat oven to 400 F. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water and set aside.
- In bowl, use fork to work 2 cups flour and butter together. Add yeast mixture and warm milk; use hands to combine and form sticky ball. Sprinkle flour on counter and pat or roll out dough.
- Use regular-sized canning lid to cut out biscuits. Place on greased pan, lightly touching one another, then let rise 15 minutes. Bake 15-18 minutes.
- To make gravy: In saucepan over medium heat, combine butter and flour. Whisk in milk and remove from heat when mixture begins boiling; mixture should be thick. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Serve biscuits topped with white pepper gravy.
